PPPs could transform water management in the Canary Islands, where water planning, the level of network losses, the implementation of new European Directives and reliance on European funds require efficient partnerships between local authorities, private operators and sector associations.<\/p>\n<p>This session focuses on the lessons learnt, the benefits and the challenges of PPPs, with a view to increasing investment, digitising the urban water cycle, improving hydraulic performance and efficiency, and upgrading our treatment plants and reuse systems.<\/p>\n<p><b>Registration is mandatory and open until 5 May at 18:00:<\/b><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"EGxE9KJqz6\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spegc.org\/formacion-y-eventos\/la-necesidad-de-la-colaboracion-publico-privada-para-relanzar-el-sector-del-agua-de-canarias-a-debate\/\">La necesidad de la colaboraci\u00f3n p\u00fablico-privada para relanzar el sector del agua de Canarias, a debate<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u00abLa necesidad de la colaboraci\u00f3n p\u00fablico-privada para relanzar el sector del agua de Canarias, a debate\u00bb \u2014 SPEGC\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spegc.org\/formacion-y-eventos\/la-necesidad-de-la-colaboracion-publico-privada-para-relanzar-el-sector-del-agua-de-canarias-a-debate\/embed\/#?secret=VdXrHdgIV8#?secret=EGxE9KJqz6\" data-secret=\"EGxE9KJqz6\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Objectives<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To analyse evidence of successful public-private partnerships and their applicability to the Canary Islands.<\/li>\n<li>To identify barriers and propose forms of long-term contracts with transparent and efficiency-based KPIs.<\/li>\n<li>To encourage debate on the specific features of these initiatives and factors to be taken into account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Aimed at<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Managers and heads of public and private entities involved in the full water cycle; auditors, lawyers, public procurement specialists and economists with expertise in public procurement within the water sector; executives of operators; and professionals or consultants in the sector.<\/p>\n<p><b>Speakers<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Carmelo Santana Delgado<\/b> \u2013 Manager of the Gran Canaria Island Water Board<\/p>\n<p>Carmelo Santana Delgado holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a Master\u2019s in Maintenance Engineering. He has over 25 years\u2019 experience in the water sector, 21 of which were spent in the public sector and 4 in the private sector, where he was manager of a company specialising in industrial water production. Since 2001, he has worked at the Gran Canaria Island Water Council, an organisation of which he has been Manager since August 2021.<\/p>\n<p>His professional career has focused on the management and operation of water infrastructure (desalination, treatment and reuse), as well as advising estates and irrigation communities, and on hydrological planning and the management of public water resources.<\/p>\n<p><b>Luis Francisco Gonz\u00e1lez Sosa<\/b> \u2013 CEO of Tagua<\/p>\n<p>Luis Francisco Gonz\u00e1lez Sosa holds a degree in International Management, specialising in Finance, from the Geneva School of Management. His connection to the world of water began at a very young age, accompanying his father to water communities and in the marketing of water flows to supply municipalities and agricultural holdings. As CEO of Tagua, he has gained experience in international contracts that have enabled him to work in Morocco, Ethiopia and India.<\/p>\n<p>His involvement in the water value chain has grown through the securing of comprehensive public service management contracts with several local councils.
