REGIOSTARS 2024 Awards

The REGIOSTARS Awards is an annual competition organised by DG Regio of the European Commission to identify good practice in EU-funded projects demonstrating regional development impact that could be attractive and inspiring to other regions and project managers. 

The REGIOSTARS 2024 competition is open for applications until 31 May.

This year you can apply in five categories corresponding to the cohesion policy objectives:

  1. A COMPETITIVE AND SMART EUROPE - Promoting competitiveness, innovation and economic resilience. 
  2. A GREEN EUROPE – The green transition as the enabler of regional development 
  3. A CONNECTED EUROPE - Enhancing mobility and connectivity between regions 
  4. A SOCIAL AND INCLUSIVE EUROPE - Achieving a more inclusive Europe by harnessing regional talents
  5. A EUROPE CLOSER TO THE CITIZENS - Fostering the sustainable development of all types of territories 

You can apply in English or in your own language. 

Projects must be completed at the time of submission. 

An independent jury of academics will select up to 5 finalists per category, who will compete in a final round during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels. The award ceremony will also take place in Brussels during the same week.

The winners will receive a local communication campaign managed in cooperation with DG Regio to promote the winning projects in their region.

Workshop "Single Market Programme: Opportunities for the outermost regions"

The workshop ‘’Single Market Programme: Opportunities for the outermost regions’’ will take place online:

08 February 2024

13:00–16:00 (Canary Islands, Madeira) | 12:00–15:00 (Azores)

Interpretation will be provided in French, Portuguese, Spanish, and English during the event

The Single Market Programme (SMP) is the EU funding programme to help the single market reach its full potential and supports businesses, in particular Small and Medium Sized enterprises in benefitting from the Single Market and ensure Europe’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides an integrated package to support and strengthen the governance of the single market. The programme includes in some activities support to outermost regions and their integration in the internal market.

This workshop will focus on:

  • presenting the Single Market Programme and its specific opportunities for the EU Outermost Regions
  • providing recommendations on application procedures
  • sharing experiences from past beneficiaries
  • dedicating time for questions and answers
