On 10 and 11 September 2025, Praia, Cape Verde, will host the presentation of projects approved in the 1st call for proposals of the Interreg MAC (Madeira, Azores, Canary Islands) Programme 2021-2027, within the framework of the ATLANTE strategic project, approved by the Programme to support and boost cooperation with African partners.
Within the framework of the first call, Cape Verde is presenting 28 approved projects. These projects cover areas as diverse as innovation and competitiveness, ecological transition, the fight against climate change, the blue and circular economy, and risk and disaster prevention and management, as well as mobility and migration monitoring.
In addition to representatives of the approved projects, the event brings together institutional representatives and regional partners, specifically the Cape Verdean Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Myrian Vieira; the Regional Secretary for Finance of the Regional Government of Madeira, Duarte Freitas; the Vice-President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Artur Lima; the Director-General for Relations with Africa of the Government of the Canary Islands, Luís Padilla; as well as representatives of the INTERREG MAC 2021-2027 Programme Management Authority, Celia Alberto, and the European Commission’s Territorial Cooperation Unit – DG REGIO, Marc Lobet.
The Praia Conference is therefore an opportunity to publicise these projects, strengthen institutional ties and highlight Cape Verde’s role as a strategic bridge between Europe and Africa, within a framework of cooperation based on innovation, sustainability and good neighbourliness.
