The InnoVamos project will hold its public launch event on 17 June in Gran Canaria Innovation, Collaboration and Knowledge and Technology Transfer in the MAC Space: Towards a Dynamic Ecosystem for Innovation.
The European project InnoVamos, funded by the INTERREG MAC 2021–2027 Programme, will hold its public launch event on 17 June 2025 on the island of Gran Canaria. The event will bring together representatives from the academic, business and institutional sectors and the innovation ecosystem of the participating regions of the MAC Space (Madeira, Azores and Canary Islands) and West African countries such as Ghana, Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe.
InnoVamos is a strategic initiative coordinated by the Canary Islands Science and Technology Park Foundation of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (FCPCT-ULPGC) that aims to strengthen collaboration between universities, technology centres, companies and institutional agents.
The project is committed to more inclusive and connected innovation, with a direct impact on the economic and social development of the regions involved.
During the event, the main objectives and lines of action of the project will be presented, as well as the opportunities for collaboration that will arise throughout its implementation. The conference will combine information sessions, round tables and networking spaces, promoting exchange between key players in the innovation ecosystem of the MAC cooperation area.
Among the most prominent speakers and attendees confirmed are: Sebastián López Suárez, Vice-Rector for Research, Transfer and Entrepreneurship at the ULPGC; Richard Yeboah, Director of the Ghana Innovation Hub and founder of the Centre for Enterprise Learning (CEL); Marco M. Alemán, Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Pilar Moreno, Director of the Invest in the Canary Islands Area (PROEXCA), Braulio Quintana Sánchez, General Manager of the EMERGE Association, Glenn Cauwenberghs, Senior Innovation Specialist (United Nations Tourism).
The event will be held at the FCPCT-ULPGC facilities, located on the Tafira Campus of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). The hybrid format will be maintained, with the possibility of attending in person and participating online via streaming. Simultaneous translation will be provided in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
Registration is open to all actors in the innovation ecosystem: universities, technology centres, SMEs, start-ups, spin-offs, public institutions, investors, entrepreneurs and social agents. Coffee breaks and lunch will provide opportunities for networking and cooperation among attendees.
