Last Thursday, 8th May 2025, the first synergy day of the Interreg MAC programme was held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A meeting that brought together the SeimLab, Agamenon and COMPASS projects with the aim of building bridges and exploring new forms of collaboration, as well as avoiding overlapping actions. In a context where migration, innovation and the identification of the migratory ecosystem are established as fundamental pillars, this conference managed to become a space for creation and connection.
From the beginning, the focus was on the idea of creation. Building bridges between projects, creating spaces to share knowledge and, above all, creating tools and actions that contribute to the protection of human lives. Because, beyond the technical concepts and the particular objectives of each one, the central axis was clear: to protect lives.
During the collaborative workshop, structured around three essential questions – What unites us? What could we share? What could we create together? – the strength of the synergies between the projects of Priority 4 – OMC Mobility – became evident. The keywords of each gave way to common concepts, unifying perspectives around innovation (social and technological), identification of the migration ecosystem and knowledge and capacity building.
In the reflection on what we could share, concrete proposals emerged that demonstrate the capacity to generate joint actions:
- A mapping platform to store and share relevant data.
- Standardised protocols for first response in migration contexts.
- Specific content for training and capacity building.
Finally, in answering the question of what we could create, a range of possibilities opened up to continue the collaboration and materialise new initiatives:
- A joint working group to facilitate continuous exchange.
- Collective participation in congresses to give visibility to what has been achieved.
- A common space for the exchange of data and resources.
- A joint training programme that integrates the capacities of the three projects.
In short, creating is much more than building something new. It is an act of commitment, listening and joining forces. In this conference, beyond ideas and projects, a space was created to recognise what really unites the Inerreg MAC programme. And the SeimLab, Agamenon and COMPASS projects. Because when you share what you know and what you can do, you create possibilities. Possibilities to transform, to care for and, above all, to continue walking together towards a more humane future with a common goal: to protect human lives.
