The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture of the Government of Madeira, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands and the company Gestión y Planeamiento Territorial y Medioambiental S.A. (GESPLAN), is organising the second partnership meeting within the framework of the PLANCLIMAC2 project (1/MAC/2/2.4/0006), part of the INTERREG VI-D Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands (MAC) Territorial Cooperation Programme 2021–2027, under Priority 2 – MAC GREEN.

This project focuses on ecological transition, climate action, adaptation, governance, and risk and disaster management.

Event Programme:

29 April:

The second partners’ meeting will be held with the participation of a consortium comprising:

  • Deputy Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight
  • against Climate Change and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands.
  • Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and
  • Culture of the Government of Madeira.
  • Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action,
  • Regional Directorate for the Environment and Climate Action of the Government of the Azores.
  • Territorial and Environmental Planning and
  • Management S.A. (GESPLAN).
  • University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
  • University of La Laguna.
  • Institute of Technology and Renewable Energy
  • S.A.
  • Canary Islands Institute of Technology, S.A.
  • National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics
  • (INMG).
  • Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, General
  • Directorate of Lands and Natural Resources.
  • Directorate of Environment and Climate Action.
  • Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (OIPR).

Scheduled Workshops:

  • Workshop on climate change education and its impact in schools (29th, in the afternoon).
  • Workshop on the impact of climate change and its effects on the marine environment and coastlines (30 April).

This event represents a unique opportunity for collaboration between organisations and governments to tackle the global challenges posed by climate change, particularly in the areas of ecological transition and sustainability within the Macaronesian region and third countries.
