As part of the Canary Islands Science and Innovation Weeks 2025, the European Quality Week in Tenerife 2025 and the programme of events commemorating the 35th anniversary of ITER, the RENATURMAC project will organise an open day on 7 November entitled “Green Infrastructure and Connectivity: Talk and visit to ITER’s RENATURMAC Green Infrastructure”.
Participants will have the opportunity to discover how green and blue infrastructure are becoming strategic elements for biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and improving quality of life in natural and urban environments. An introductory talk will explain the role of the RENATURMAC project in the Canary Islands, Cape Verde and Gambia, highlighting the technological renaturalisation developed by ITER at its facilities and the ecological connectivity with the Montaña Pelada protected natural area. This will be followed by a guided tour of the main points of action of ITER’s green infrastructure, showcasing nature-based solutions and innovative technologies for sustainable land management.
An enriching experience to learn about applied research and understand how science contributes to the green and blue transition in Macaronesia and West Africa.
