The Technical Conference on the Use of Textile and Other Waste is being held in parallel with the 2nd Regional Fair on the Circular Economy in the Canary Islands with the aim of promoting social and business awareness of the need to change from a linear economic model to a circular model that requires specific tools to
inform, educate and raise awareness among Canarian society.
The TEXTIL project (‘Weaving a sustainable future: promoting the circular economy in the textile sector’, 1/MAC/2/2.6/0096), funded by the Interreg VI-D Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands Cooperation Programme MAC 2021-2027, seeks to address the challenges of textile waste management in island territories such as the Canary Islands. To this end, it will organise, in parallel with the Fair, these technical conferences aimed at professionals, as well as practical workshops integrated into the Fair and aimed at students, with the aim of promoting the circular economy, boosting the reuse and recycling of textiles, and promoting public awareness and green employment in the sector.
