SIGNING OF THE FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION AGREEMENT FROM THE NEIGHBOURHOOD, DEVELOPMENT AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION INSTRUMENT (NDICI) TO THE INTERREG MAC PROGRAMME

On 30 September 2025, a signing ceremony was held in Brussels for the €10 million financial contribution agreement from the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) to the Interreg MAC programme.
The signature by high-level representatives from the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission, Director-General Themis Christophidou, and the Canary Islands Government, Regional Minister for Finance and Relations with the EU, Matilde Asian González, demonstrated the commitment of both parties to work together in addressing common challenges such as ecological transition, migration, natural disaster mitigation, and the development of the green and blue economies.
As stated in the European Commission article, the Interreg MAC programme has consolidated itself over the last decades as the main instrument for promoting the regional integration and cooperation between the ORs and their neighbouring countries in West Africa.
