NEW SOCIAL MEDIA PROCEDURES MANUAL NOW AVAILABLE

A short manual on social media procedures for all projects, beneficiaries and collaborators of the programme is now available in the Documentation section of this website, under Communication.

Its aim is to establish simple and effective guidelines that will enable:

  • Raise awareness of the Interreg MAC programme and each of the projects that comprise it.
  • Create a solid network of digital collaboration between all stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the monitoring of the main activities carried out and results obtained.

The Portuguese version of the Interreg MAC Communication Manual is also available.

New European Funds website and launch of the #EuropaSeSiente 2025 competition

The new website for European Funds managed in Spain is now available. This portal centralises for the first time all information on European funds in our country, including those from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), and represents a significant step forward in transparency and institutional communication.

The new platform offers a comprehensive overview of the use of European funds, with tools such as a map of geolocated projects, a call for proposals search engine, updated news and upcoming events. All this with a clear and accessible design to facilitate consultation by managers, beneficiary entities and citizens.

Along with the launch of the portal, the deadline for participating in the #EuropaSeSiente 2025 competition has been opened, which rewards the best projects financed with European funds. The big news in this edition is the inclusion of PRTR projects among the candidates. Applications can be submitted until 6 June.

The Interreg MAC programme promotes cooperation on migration and governance in the Macaronesian region and West Africa

Mr Julián Zafra, representing the MAC programme's Managing Authority, took part in a round table discussion, organised as part of the Interreg GO event, with representatives from other programmes and from the European Commission.

His speech focused on the importance of the migratory phenomenon in the geographical area covered by Interreg MAC, reaffirming the Programme's commitment to improving migration management and the socio-economic inclusion of migrants in its area of cooperation.

On the other hand, it highlighted the strategic Atlante project as a key platform for promoting shared governance between European regions and African partner countries, defining common priorities, in a context where coordination with NDICI funds is emerging as a crucial challenge.

The Interreg MAC Programme advocates strengthening the specific Interreg objectives, highlighting the need to redefine the role of governance as a cross-cutting priority and to increase support for the migration dimension in the face of the humanitarian and structural challenges affecting the region.

MAC PROGRAMME PARTICIPATES IN INTERREG GO!

The Interreg MAC programme is participating in the Interreg event taking place these days in Gorizia and Nova Gorica. High level political representatives from the Commission and the different Interreg programmes, managing authorities and other stakeholders will discuss the key points of the consultation on the post 2027 period and on the current and future priorities of European Territorial Cooperation.

The Director General for European Affairs of the Government of the Canary Islands and Managing Authority of the MAC, Celia Alberto, took part as a speaker in the panel dedicated to the future of cooperation at the external borders of the EU, together with representatives of the Interreg NEXT and IPA programmes.

During her speech, she highlighted the unique nature of the EU’s outermost borders in the Caribbean, South America, the Indian Ocean and the mid-Atlantic, and the importance of the Interreg programmes in strengthening their regional integration through closer cooperation with neighbouring third countries.

The Director highlighted the contribution of the MAC programme to the relations between the Canary Islands, Azores and Madeira and their neighbours on the West African coast, creating the right environment to increase exchanges between entities on each side of the border – universities, research institutes, public administrations, port authorities and business associations, among others – always from a perspective of mutual benefit.

The geographical area covered by the MAC programme presents significant challenges, arising from the differences between the partners, not only in terms of economic development, but also in terms of governance and administrative capacity. Thanks to the effort and commitment of the project partners and their interest in making things work, these constraints have been overcome.

‘Interreg MAC is about working together in a win-win relationship”
